American Primers and Readers

Featuring the Words and Collection of Richard L. Venezky

An online exhibition of the Cubberley Education Library, Stanford University

Acknowledgements

"This exhibition of readers and primers from the Richard L. Venezky collection recognizes the tremendous value of the collection as a resource for teaching and research, and marks the gift of the Venezky collection to the Stanford University Libraries.

"There are a number of people to thank for making the exhibition possible. Chief among them are Richard Venezky’s friend and colleague, Professor Emeritus Robert Calfee, and the Venezky family, who saw fit to enhance Stanford’s existing holdings of primary-grade textbooks and children’s literature through their gift of Professor Venezky’s extensive collection of American textbooks to the University Libraries Department of Special Collections and University Archives.

"I would like to thank Kathy Kerns, Head of Cubberley Library in Stanford’s Graduate School of Education, who served as the exhibition’s curator, and Exhibitions Manager and Designer Becky Fischbach, who designed and installed the exhibition. Rare Books Specialist Peter Whidden processed the collection, and Elspeth Olson assisted with preparation and installation of the exhibition in Green Library’s Peterson Gallery. "
